A renovation of a 1930s bungalow with a new lightweight addition to float over the harbour. Wrapping the house with a veranda connects the sandstone rockface to the rear and the water view to the front. Bringing the garden to the level of the second storey creates a rear and a front outdoor aspect accommodating the inclement weather patterns of the site.
The new living space is passively cooled by drawing cool air from the original double brick shell beneath via the stair. The gable roof acts as a convective breezeway through the top of the house.
