Hotel Beograd Cafe is the first stage in the restoration of this iconic building in Belgrade, Serbia. Originally owned by the client’s grandparents before it was occupied in 1946 by the communist regime. Recently it has been returned to the family after a long legal battle. Recycled and vernacular elements were built into the cafe. Discarded marble rounds from sink cut-outs were used in combination with the pink terrazzo, along with recycled timber and traditional furnishings including kilim rugs for the built-in upholstery to create a familiar yet contemporary feel.
