The Julia Creek Bridge (named after our former Prime Minister) is designed to develop environmental protocol for infrastructure for the Woodford Folk Festival site, using local materials on site to form a noninvasive + organic solution.
The solid timber logs, milled out of fallen trees from the site act as a strong foundation for the temporal bamboo structure. The bamboo sculpture was designed and built in collaboration with Georges Cuvillier from Belgium and Ronnie Sammut from Victoria, who use a bamboo and rope rigging / lashing system. This dynamic and accessible connection method allows the structure to be erected and dismantled quickly, without damaging the bamboo poles
