Woodford Folk Festival’s Sand Stage is an evolution of Dhäwu’mi Wäna (House of Stories) Cultural Centre for Garma Festival in Arnhem Land.
In consultation with Jinibara elders, the Sand Stage was made from bamboo, recycled tea tree brush, telegraph poles, steel wire and branches. The Sand Stage creates a space for First Nations performances at the heart of the festival.
Special thanks to Mercurio Alvarado for passing his learnings from the previous iteration at Garma to design a new form that responds to the Woodford site and the incredible Woodford Folk Festival Volunteers.
