Held at the height of summer, the Woodford Festival is known for its hot days and summer storms. Cave Urban has been working with festival organisers to develop a modular system of bamboo frames that can provide large amounts of shade across the festival site. The brief required for it to be assembled and disassembled in a short period of time and be stored for future use.
For the second iteration of the shade structure, Cave Urban engaged bamboo expert Jorg Stamm to develop a bamboo space frame for the Woodford site. His design was inspired by the triangulated tessellation of origami and housed Lycra shade sails designed in collaboration with Kath Norman and Goldberg Aberline Studio.
